Our Mission is to make history accessible to young audiences and young artists alike. We have set out on this mission by re-imagining classic stories, giving a voice to new historical interpretations and empowering young people to get involved with the past so they can influence the future.

Vision:

  • We seek to provide young people from all over the Rochester area with access to free community theatre opportunities.

  • We seek to engender a collaborative (rather than competitive) environment for young actors to grow in.

  • We seek to foster a love of history and classic stories in young people by closely acquainting actors with the context of the plays they are performing

  • We seek to create an environment where young people of a wide age range can interact and teach one another.

  • We seek to enrich young people’s theatrical experiences through exposure and participation in all aspects of theatre (set and costume design, crew responsibilities, movement and acting training) and by immersion in historical context.

  • We seek to present audiences with vibrant storytelling, engaging visuals and relatable emotions.

How do we achieve this?

  • Three full productions for actors and crew aged 12-20 every year. Something dark in the Fall, something bright in the Spring, and Shakespeare over the Summer.

  • Staged readings of new historical drama by local playwrights.

  • Educational trunk shows, and community outreach to schools, museums and libraries.

  • Theatrical masterclasses
